Exceptional Children

Dresden Phoenix is dedicated to the empowerment of exceptional children.  We consider any child who falls outside of institutional, cultural or societal norms to be exceptional. There are many reasons why a child might be exceptional. These reasons have been defined as disabilities, disorders, syndromes and deficits by those that we as a society have deemed to be experts. At Dresden Phoenix we reject these labels since we believe they define children by their weaknesses. We chose to define children by their strengths. We seek not to tell children their place but help them to find their own. We see ourselves as their equals, their partners, their allies in a world that is all-to-often their enemy. We will not define exceptional children but rather give them the tools and the confidence so that they might define themselves.
